Once an artist retreat, this funky 1980s structure was transformed into a lovely waterfront home for a busy family. Instead of battling the original form, Ripple Design Studio embraced it and then expanded on it — including the addition of a handsome two-bedroom carriage house for guests. The result is a modern reinterpretation of a farmhouse that celebrates its Puget Sound environs. Inside, the light-filled spaces, white shiplap walls, and warm wood flooring create an understated polish that showcases the owner’s collection of antiques.
